All aboard the arc!
03:08
|
|||
They're forecasting rain of biblical proportions
every day next week
whole bioregions will be flooded so I've got to hurry, time is running out
collect one healthy specimen of every specie in this region
give them food and shelter in my giant arc
until the flood waters subside
and the land-is-once-again dry.
So far, there's Rhino and Dragonfly, Badger and Crab, Hippo and Elk
Locust and Sloth, Puma and Dog, Emu and Snake
Too many more to name…
I hope I didn't forget any
I hope I have enough supplies
I hope they all get along
until we see land again
and it's safe to leave the arc
and start all over again….. (repeat, fading out)

Squid and Squirrel
03:21
|
|||
Before the big adventure they were so unaware
They didn’t even know about the other’s existence
Squid lived in the ocean, while Squirrel lived in trees
The only thing in common was the S,Q, (no T).
But after many years stuck in their own worlds
Squid crept up on land while Squirrel went to sea
In a tree the squid could see with a squirrel’s eyes
And Squirrel squirted ink to make the sharks go blind
It gave him time, time to hide
It gave him time, time to flee
It gave him time, time to escape
It gave him time, time to fly
And he made it back to the safety of his tree.
Squirrel and squid once traded places
Squid grew a tail and Squirrel grew tentacles
Tentacles….
Before the big adventure they were so unaware
They didn’t even know about the other’s existence
Squid lived in the ocean, while Squirrel lived in trees
The only thing in common was the S,Q, no T.
But after many years stuck in their own worlds
Squid crept up on land while Squirrel went to sea
In a tree the squid could see with-a-squirrel’s-eyes
And Squirrel squirted ink to make the sharks go blind
And that is how he managed, managed to flee
And he made it back to the safety of his tree.
Squirrel and squid once traded places
Squid grew a tail and Squirrel grew tentacles
And squirrel grew tentacles and squirrel grew tentacles
And squirrel grew….
And after a few days of exploration and new experiences
They grew homesick and made their way back to their natural habitats
Which they’ve come to better appreciate:
Squirrel, to the trees; and Squid, to the ocean.

Spider and Viper
02:07
|
|||
“I’m more deadly than you are!”
Said the spider to the viper.
“My venom is more toxic than yours!”
Replied the viper to the spider.
For hours they argued
Trading boast with boast.
Crow overheard them
And he let out a sigh
“Why this poisonous contest?
Life is hard enough as it is
Why can’t we just get along
And live.”

Porcupine and Dog
02:57
|
|||
Oh, Sam, you bad dog!
Look what you’ve done!
You got into trouble once again
By sticking your big fuzzy snout
Where it wasn’t supposed to be.
You shouldn’t play with crabs
And skunks are not your friends
Don’t go sniffing around bee hives
And see what happens when you play with porcupines
(Porcupines).
Why Sam, oh why
Are you such a bad dog? (bad dog)
Why, oh why?
Why?

Locust and Sloth
03:18
|
|||
One goes high, the other low
One can fly, the other no
One is big, the other small
One can dig, the other not at all
One can sing, the other snores
One has wings, neither roars
Did you guess? They’re not a moth
I will say “yes” if you thought Locust and Sloth
Locust and Sloth…
One is fast, the other slow
Full of sass, you wouldn’t know
Both are cool but not so soft
Back to school Locust and Sloth
Locust and Sloth…

(something about signals and blindness)
If you’re feathered cause it’s better than repeat after me
If you’re smarter than an otter than repeat after me
If you’re coming while you’re humming than repeat after me
If you’re going, colours showing, then repeat after me
If you’re redder than a setter than repeat after me
If you’re talking more than squawking than repeat after me
If you’re cheating, wings are beating, then repeat after me
If you’re a parrot, can you share it, then repeat after me
I’m a special little bird
What’s the word?

Condor and Mantis
06:54
|
|||
Last night the Condor saved my life
I was praying, “Mantis, save me.”
Minding my own business (on the Boulevard)
I got important business (life is so hard)
A gang of wolves said, “No!”
And then that gang said, “Oh! You’re gonna die.”
I wasn’t buggin’ them first (What’s the dealio?)
Why they actin’ the worst? (Su-su-sudio)
They cornered me and growled
They’re wolves and so they howled
I’m runnin’ from the whole pack (down the Boulevard)
I wish I brought a sweet snack (to throw at the wolves)
I had to pray and run
Something blocked out the sun
The wolves are getting closer (feeling out of shape)
I just might be the loser (should’a got in shape)
My blood sugar is low
Some heroes shouted, “No! Not on our watch!”
Last night the Condor saved my life
I was praying, “Mantis, save me.”

Tick and Human
06:00
|
|||
Sight unseen, a tiny bug
Drawing blood from your head
Over time you weaken, fall ill
Years later Lyme disease.
It’s hard to believe what damage is done by a
Creature as small as a flea
It’s hard to believe what damage is done by a
Creature as small as a flee.

An unfortunate oversight
03:04
|
|||
“Wait a minute, weren’t you supposed to bring aboard
At least two of every type of animal
Male and female, so they can procreate
To replace all those who died
In the Great Flood
To replace all those who died
In the Great Flood?”
“Ah, damned, I didn’t even think of that!
That’s quite an oversight on my part, isn’t it?
All my best efforts have come to naught.” (X2)
