Broken Not going anywhere I fell apart and now I’m scared All this to say I’m… Broken I could really use a friend Will you meet me at the end? All this to say I’m breaking down Again Again Again Again I’m broken Broken All torn apart inside I told myself I could but lied All this to say…

You know when you’re in a rut You can feel it in your gut Tried to leave it yesterday But it seems it’s here to stay Like a skip inside a groove You can’t make it do the move Try to leave it when you can Heart connection was the plan (4x)

There’s never been a liver that could handle you A quarter for an inch and I’ll end up blue I take it that you take it on the sunny side A quarter for an inch on a boxcar ride (repeat)

I always thought I liked my voice. Maybe not loved. But a fairly strong like. And then a friend brought over a tape recorder. We recorded our voices and laughed. We laughed at everything really. But then he played it back and I stopped laughing. It was confusing. Was that… me? I didn’t like the way I sounded. He rewound the tape and played it again, and again, and again. And each time I liked my voice a little bit less… until I just couldn’t stand it. I ripped out the tape and smashed it. I smashed it till it couldn’t playback anything ever again. He asked what was wrong, but I… I couldn’t use my voice. I ran home tears rolling down my cheeks. And I never used my voice again. Until now. But what do I say?

about

Recording Your Organs is more about ebb and flow than verse and chorus. It is more about sounds than songs. And it is more about recording your organs than organizing your records.
This album was done with a lot of remote recording. I took my recording gear to different locations and got to experiment with recording a variety of pianos and organs. I got other people involved in the music-making. Many instruments were recorded without listening to the other parts during overdubs. A lot of songs weren't written. I would just hit the record button and see what happened. This is what happened.
