Name: Plague Face
AKA: Doloros de Santa Cruz
Story: The plague made a once beautiful woman an outcast who even the children taunted, but full of shame and vengeance, she was determined to make the townspeople share her fate.
She makes occasional reappearances since she first made her presence felt in 1241 AD, most recently in 2020.
lyrics
Her face used to be so fair and so pretty
But now it is pockmarked, bleeding, open sores
Before she was merry but her illness made her bitter
She will soon die, so she’ll take-other-people-down with her….
“Plague Face!” the cruel kids say behind her back
Plague Face, their parents look away
Plague Face, the diseased-air-that she exhales
Plague Face, spreading the contagion that will kill half this city
And she does this very calmy, clear headed, with no regret…
There was a biohazardous leak at the lab where she had worked
The government didn’t compensate her, instead they kept her detained
But through cunning she escaped and vowed that she would make them pay
The disease is fast spreading and there’s no vaccine that can stop it…..
Chorus
She wandered the city covered in / black veil and shoud
She took the crowded subway then headed out to the mall
She went to several tourist sites, in the evening, a concert hall
A lot of unsuspecting people to whom she passed on the virus
(The Curse of St. Vitus!)
“Plague Face!” the cruel kids say behind her back
Plague Face, their parents look away
Plague Face, the diseased-air-that she exhales
Plague Face, spreading the contagion that will kill half this city
And she does this very calmy, clear headed, with no regret…
With no regret, with no regret, with no regret we meet our death, we meet our death.
(Optional Narration: <5 centuries earlier than the above> “….And then she entered the castle upon the hill. The king and his court were holding a masquerade ball. They thought they were safe from the plague that caused so much suffering amongst their subjects in the valley below. But they were not: for Plague Face was now amongst them!”)
